Matt and Dixie were married on July 15th, with a ceremony and reception at Glensheen Mansion.
On the day of the wedding, my second shooter, Jeff, and I started out at Beacon Pointe, where Dixie was getting ready. Once I’d captured a few details and Dixie was prepped with her hair and makeup done, we went to Leif Erickson Park and the rose garden for the first look between Matt and Dixie. The look on Matt’s face as he saw Dixie for the first time in her gorgeous designer dress and cathedral-length veil is something I will never forget.
Then, Dixie had an emotional first look with her father. Her dad was a wreck already just as I was talking with him, emotional before I even queued Dixie forward to approach him. When she finally arrived, he gave her the biggest hug and wept in excitement and joy that his daughter was getting married!
We got a few more pictures with the family and wedding party at the Glensheen Mansion ahead of the ceremony. It rained for just a short time, just enough to get the ground wet, but that didn’t stop us from capturing some spectacular pictures and memories all the same!
During the ceremony up on the Juliet Balcony & Terrace, there was a moment as Matt was saying his vows where he paused. He had been making direct eye contact with Dixie the whole time, but he broke eye contact, looked out over the gorgeous overlook on Lake Superior to compose himself, and then turned back to Dixie to continue his vow: “In sickness and in health, now death do us part.” It certainly was unforgettable!
From there, the cocktail hour was held out on the terrace, and then we went down to the Winter Garden for dinner. The whole place was decorated with a gorgeous Hollywood-style theme, complete with elegant candelabras as centerpieces. After that, the party spilled out into a bonfire and marshmallow roasting!
Thank you, Dixie & Matt, for letting Jeff and me be part of your special day! True love is inseparable come rain or shine, and seeing you two be each other’s yin and yang was absolutely amazing!
