Michelle and Nate were married on October 1st, with a ceremony and reception at Florian Gardens, Eau Claire WI.
It was a gorgeous day at the Florian Gardens Wedding as my second shooter, Sasha, and I headed down to capture the “getting ready” images. Michelle got dressed and had her hair and makeup done with all her girls surrounding her and chilling out, eating snacks, and having a good time. That’s exactly how you want to start any wedding, really—totally relaxed with people who love you!
Once Michelle was ready, we held a first look with her father, who was an emotional wreck. It was so sweet to see the look on his face when he saw his daughter about to be married—and it was impossible not to get caught up in the emotion of it all.
After that, we went from the first look with Michelle’s dad to the first look with Nate, who was awesome. It’s always fun to see the difference in reactions from the father/daughter moments to the husband/wife moments, as there are different kinds of love charging the air for each, though just as powerful.
We grabbed some pictures of the wedding party as well as family formals, and of course, the family pictures wouldn’t be complete without their dog, Ruby, who was an integral part of the day! Since Nate is on the Union Township Fire Department, there was also a fire truck present, which provided plenty of opportunities for fun as well as formal pictures. I love it when my couples have those unique, personal touches.
After a beautiful ceremony, we all headed out for the cocktail hour and dinner, where it was immediately clear that Michelle and Nate are simply adored by their family and friends. They were surrounded by love and support the entire night! Although almost everyone in the family was there, Michelle’s grandmother hadn’t been able to make it. So, her mother had recorded a few words on video that she projected on the screen so that Michelle could still have her grandmother be part of her day.
As the party went on, I was able to snag Michelle and Nate when the sun went down so that we could get some really neat sunset shots. There’s something magical about that hour of sunset, providing the perfect backdrop for these two and their enduring love.
Nate & Michelle, thank you for allowing me to be part of your day! I was absolutely honored to meet you and your beautiful families.
