Jayme and Aaron were married on June 18 with their ceremony and reception at the Metropolis Resort in Eau Claire, WI.
I wanted to take a moment to reflect back on Jayme and Aaron’s epic wedding as they celebrated their one year anniversary. Congratulations to you both! This wedding really stands out in memory because the whole day was filled with love. From the first pictures of Jayme with her bridesmaids to the very last shots of the night, the moments were filled with joy and the shared love for this couple.
The flow of the day was great. The bride got ready in the hotel with the rest of her ladies. They started out wearing matching personalized robes, and of course- enjoying mimosas. Karyn, Julia, Kendra, Reid, Kaci, Michele and Chandler were so attentive to Jayme, helping her get into her stunning gown and getting her laced up. These girls obviously cared so much, it was sweet to watch the way they all interacted together and attended to her needs. The bridesmaids wore dresses in complementing jewel tones which made for a rich color palette. They all looked great.
Jayme and Aaron chose to have a first look, so I found a secluded back hallway for a moment alone. Aaron had his back to Jayme as she approached, and when he turned to see her, he was so overcome with emotion he had to turn back around facing the wall. He leaned against the wall to compose himself he was so overwhelmed with her beauty. That moment when a groom sees his bride: this woman about to become his wife, his partner, his “happily ever after” is always emotionally charged. But Aaron’s love for Jayme was so special. Moments like this can’t be put into words.
The connection and the emotion between this bride and groom was truly incredible. Jayme was stunning in her gown and the way Aaron looked at her, once he could contain his emotions was filled with a mixture of love and awe. Seeing the way these two love each other was a pleasure to capture.
Before the ceremony, Jayme did a first look with her father as well. It was clear how proud he was to see his little girl transformed into such a beautiful bride. The ceremony location was beautifully decorated with a combination of soft, flowing fabric that gracefully cascaded from the ceiling; romantic glowing lights and beautiful flowers. Even though the bride and groom had a first look, that moment when Aaron saw his bride come down the aisle brought him to tears again. Jayme’s smile was radiant as she met him at the altar and they joined hands. Love like this makes my job easy.
After the ceremony, the wedding party went offsite in the limo bus to celebrate and to take some more photos. After some drinks at the Eau Claire Firehouse we stopped traffic to snag a middle of the road shot. The sun was just starting to set, peeking out around the side of the new Lismore Hotel. This new downtown hotel has the most interesting, modern architecture and added to the skyline as the bride and groom dipped low in the street. The light was magical and it was such an awesome moment to capture for these two!
When we got back to the hotel, my second shooter, Jared and I spotted this huge field with tall grass out behind the Metropolis hotel. Jared and I looked at each other and knew we just had to get Jayme and Aaron out there for a few more sunset shots. The bride and groom were down for it and we took advantage of that rich, golden glow of the setting sun- their first sunset as husband and wife.
We all headed back into The Metropolis for the reception. Paul Wilkes, from All Occasions DJ Service arranged for a referee to arrive and be a part of the bride and groom’s grand entrance. Jayme and Aaron are both very competitive and athletic, both playing basketball, so having an actual basketball referee be a part of their day was incredible. It was a complete surprise for the couple, but it fit in perfectly with their fun-filled wedding. Well done, Paul!
That theme of competition continued through dinner, where there was a fun basketball game set up. If guests wanted the bride and groom to kiss, they had to make a basket with the children’s basketball hoop and ball. But if they missed… that guest had to kiss someone else! It was a fun way to get the whole party involved in the festivities.
When the party got started, it really rocked. The dancing was amazing and everyone showed their love for the bride and groom. Jayme and Aaron, happy anniversary! Thank you for having me be a part of your amazing wedding and I hope that your first year of marriage has been just as fun as tying the knot.
