Laura and David were married on Sept 8, 2018 with a ceremony and reception at Villa Bellezza Winery in Pepin Wisconsin. From the very first moment I met Laura and David, I was struck by the connection they had. The love these two share is visible. It radiates off of them. So, needless to say, I knew that their vineyard wedding would be amazing to photography. I was so happy to be their wedding photographer.
Laura and David’s Villa Bellezza Winery Wedding
On the day of the wedding, Alberto, my second shooter and I arrived in the morning at Villa Bellezza Vineyard and Winery. This Wisconsin wedding venue is simple extraordinary. It’s truly like being transported to southern Italy. Upon our arrival, we were able to tour the vineyard to get inspired for places to stage our wedding detail shots. We found this really awesome staircase with iron railings that guided the staircase down and found a really cool archway to showcase Laura’s dress. The arched Mediterranean style windows and stucco buildings offered such a unique backdrop for photos. And, what’s even better, it seemed like everywhere we turned there was another stunning staircase or beautiful arched doorway. It was a wedding photographer’s dream! We ventured outside to find endless amazing, gorgeous cobblestone and brick walkways. Elegant doors opened up to courtyard area with a spectacular fountain. Truly, it was like a Tuscan villa, right here in Wisconsin!
While Laura and her ladies were getting ready with hair and makeup, David and the guys were spending some cool casual time tasting wine and relaxing. I really appreciated how the guys had a unique look. They were instructed to wear navy suits and brown shoes, and then the bride and groom gifted them with a shirt and tie. Each one was unique and different to preserve their own unique look but together it all blended together impeccably. It was such a cool intentional usage of planned eclecticism. Similarly, all the ladies had beautiful, flowing burgundy gowns, but each one was unique. It’s always nice when a bride and groom move away from having everyone match!
Romantic First Look Wedding Photography
Laura and David did a first look in the tower of the Villa Bellezza. Laura was at the top of the tower, and David walked his way up and around the winding staircase. The moment he first saw Laura was amazing. It was so clear how much love there was between the two of them. He touched her cheek so gently, so adoringly. Laura latched onto him, embracing him so lovingly. This day they’d both planned for and waited for was finally here. It was a first look filled with sweet emotions. The best kind to capture!
The golden, September light in the windows of the tower was absolutely stunning. The way the sunlight filtered in created both warm light and super dramatic shadows, offering some awesome options for wedding portraits. Seriously, I couldn’t believe how magical the light was on their September wedding day! Their sun-kissed wedding portraits certainly tell the story of the beautiful sunny weather they had!
After the first look, we were able to venture out and do some wedding party pictures out and about in the pavilion area of Villa Bellezza. We captured some fun, candid moments of the wedding party interacting. I snuck the bride and groom away while guests arrived for some quiet, candid moments ahead of the wedding ceremony. Meanwhile, Alberto captured some candid moments of friends and family before the ceremony.

Friends and family were seated for the ceremony, and Laura’s father escorted her down the aisle. Their officiant, Todd wrote the ceremony, but Laura and David wrote their own vows. Their vows were true words from the heart. They were so personal and sweet as they shared them in front of friends and family. It was such a beautiful moment to witness. Laura and David also did a unity wine ceremony, which was so fitting at a vineyard wedding! Laura chose her favorite wine, and David chose his favorite wine and combined the two to make their own wine. It was a way to truly illustrate how their lives and families were blending together into something new!
The bride and groom could spent some time after the ceremony to share their gratitude and greet their guests to share some happy moments together, now as husband and wife. Friends and family were dismissed to the great hall for cocktail hour. The great hall at Villa Bellezza is breathtaking, with huge windows and high dramatic ceilings with wood paneling. Again, I was struck by the Mediterranean influences in the décor of the winery’s buildings. While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, I stole the bride and groom for a few more romantic pictures in the vines and around the vineyard, taking full advantage of that beautiful autumn light.
When it was time, the wedding party made their grand entrance. The way they did their grand entrance was cool. Each couple came in with as if they were secret service, scouting for the safety of the bride and groom. Laura and David finally entered (the coast was clear) and went right into their first dance as husband and wife.
This wedding was wonderful, but to be honest, the most memorable part was the connection between the bride and groom. It was so clear that they wanted to be the best they could be for one another. They are just so romantic and have such an effortless intimacy. Their lasting impact on one another does not go unnoticed. It was so great to meet their families and to be a part of their very special day.
Thank you, Laura and David. The respect and love you have for each other will help fuel your marriage for years and years. I wish you nothing but the best and it is a pleasure to know you both!
