Senior Session Outfits Do's & Don'ts
Here are some senior session outfits dos & don'ts. Planning out your outfits is one of the most essential parts of your high school senior photos! It can seem daunting, especially if your senior photos are your first professional ones. But Andrew Samplawski Photography is here to help guide you through the entire process to ensure your senior session outfits are picture-worthy!
So, let’s start with the basics! Are you curious about what you should and shouldn’t wear for your senior photos? Here are some simple dos and don’ts to remember when planning your senior session outfits...
Do...
- Choose outfits that speak to you and make you feel good about yourself. What styles compliment your body shape? What do you feel most confident in?
- Create a mood board with all your favorite colors/textures from Pinterest so that you and your photographer are on the same page. This will also help me choose what location best suits each of your looks!
- Ensure all the clothes are clean and steamed with no wrinkles, holes, or loose threads.
- Choose colors that compliment your skin tone and bring out your eyes!
- Make sure that your hair and makeup compliment the outfits you choose, for example, you won't want bold glam makeup for a sporty look.
- Bring accessories such as necklaces, hats, rings, earrings, etc. By adding simple accessories, it's easy to elevate your whole outfit!
Don't...
- Wear neon or overly bright colors. Such colors can cast onto your skin, making your skin tone look discolored in the photos.
- Wear old and dirty shoes for the session. Here at ASP, we take various photos from portrait to whole body, so your shoes will be seen in the images and are an essential part of making your outfits look complete.
- Wear shirts with big logos or busy graphic tees. These types of designs tend to take the attention off of you, and that is not something you should want for your senior photos! We want you to remain the focal point!
- Show up with chipped nail polish or dirty hair. It’s best to come with clean nails and freshly clean and dry hair for the hairstylist to work with.
- Over accessorize. As mentioned above, accessories can elevate an outfit, but if you over-accessorize, it gets distracting and looks too busy. Andrew Samplawski Photography will help you find the perfect balance!
Finally, don’t stress! Please share your thoughts and needs as we move through the planning process. ASP is here to help and answer any questions you may have. Remember, your senior photos are all about YOU! It’s important to choose outfits that make you feel confident and true to yourself.
