Lilydale Wedding Photos: Summer, Fall & Winter Wedding Inspiration in Chippewa Falls, WI

Some wedding venues look beautiful in photographs.

Others give you opportunities to create something completely different every time you return.

For me, Lilydale Dance Hall & Event Venue in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, is one of those places.

I've photographed multiple weddings at Lilydale throughout the summer, fall, and winter. And no two celebrations have looked exactly alike.

Different seasons. Different ceremony locations. Different lighting. Different couples.

But one thing remains consistent: Lilydale provides some incredible opportunities for wedding photography.

From the beautiful natural light pouring into the bridal suite to the open countryside, hardwood dance floor, and some absolutely amazing sunsets, this venue has plenty to offer.

As the photographer behind Andrew Samplawski Photography, I've photographed more than 700 weddings throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and beyond.

My approach combines candid storytelling, thoughtful direction, and true-to-color photography that preserves the atmosphere of the wedding day.

I want couples to look back at their photographs and remember more than how everything looked.

I want them to remember how it felt.

If you're planning a wedding at Lilydale, here's a look at some of my favorite photography opportunities, along with inspiration from the different seasons I've photographed at this beautiful Chippewa Falls venue.

Getting Ready at Lilydale: Beautiful Bridal Suite Photography

I'm going to start with one of my favorite spaces in the entire building.

The bridal suite.

And honestly, the natural light in this room is fantastic.

Located on the mezzanine level above the foyer, the bridal suite offers a comfortable setting for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready.

It also features a Juliet balcony overlooking the main hall.

But what I appreciate most as a photographer is the beautiful window light.

Natural light can make a tremendous difference in getting-ready photographs.

It creates opportunities for soft, flattering portraits and allows us to capture the morning without constantly interrupting what's happening.

A bride having her makeup finished.

Someone helping with her wedding dress.

A mother sharing a quiet moment with her daughter.

Bridesmaids laughing together before the ceremony.

These are the photographs that often become more meaningful as the years go by.

They're the beginning of the wedding story.

My Tip for Getting-Ready Photos

Keep the area closest to the windows relatively clear of personal belongings.

You don't need to completely reorganize the room, but a clean area near the best natural light can make a noticeable difference.

I also recommend gathering your rings, jewelry, invitations, shoes, and other meaningful details before photography begins.

That allows us to photograph those items without interrupting the morning.

Groom and Groomsmen Photos at Lilydale

The groom's lounge at Lilydale is another feature I appreciate.

It's a cool space for the groom and his groomsmen to hang out, get dressed, and enjoy the beginning of the wedding day.

And having both sides of the wedding party getting ready at the same venue is a big advantage.

Instead of spending valuable time traveling between hotels, houses, and the ceremony location, everyone can prepare on-site.

That creates more opportunities for photographs.

The groom adjusting his tie.

Groomsmen helping with jackets.

A few laughs before heading to the ceremony.

Or one of those quieter moments when everything starts to feel real.

I believe both sides of the wedding party deserve to have their stories documented.

That's one of the advantages of having a second photographer.

When included in a couple's wedding photography collection, a second photographer can document the groom and groomsmen while I'm working with the bride and bridesmaids.

It gives couples a more complete collection of photographs from the day.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Photography at Lilydale

I've photographed several different ceremony arrangements at Lilydale, including the outdoor ceremony location, covered lean-to area, and indoor ceremonies.

Each creates a different look.

For couples planning an outdoor wedding, the surrounding countryside provides a beautiful natural backdrop.

I love photographing wide ceremony scenes that show the setting, along with the smaller emotional moments happening throughout the ceremony.

A parent watching their child walk down the aisle.

The groom's reaction.

A couple exchanging vows.

The wedding party trying not to cry.

And, of course, that first kiss.

Those moments are what make wedding photography meaningful.

They're also why I believe a wedding gallery should include more than beautiful portraits of the couple.

The people you've invited to celebrate with you are part of your story.

What About Indoor Ceremonies?

Wisconsin weather doesn't always cooperate.

Fortunately, Lilydale offers indoor ceremony arrangements, which can be especially helpful during winter weddings or when rain changes the original plans.

I've photographed indoor ceremonies here and appreciate having the flexibility to work with different lighting conditions and room arrangements.

Whether the ceremony is indoors or outside, my goal is the same.

Document the moments as they happen while creating photographs that preserve the atmosphere of the celebration.

Wedding Party Photos at Lilydale: Let's Have Some Fun

Wedding party photographs don't have to be stiff, awkward, or take forever.

Yes, we'll create the classic group portraits.

But I also want photographs that show the personalities of the people you've chosen to stand beside you.

Lilydale offers several different environments for wedding party photographs, including the grounds, countryside scenery, and areas around the building.

I like to create a combination of traditional portraits and more natural moments.

Sometimes that means having everyone walk together.

Sometimes it's a little laughter.

And sometimes the best photographs happen when the wedding party forgets I'm taking pictures.

The key is giving enough direction to keep things organized without making the experience feel overly posed.

After photographing hundreds of weddings, I've learned that most couples don't want to spend their entire wedding day standing in front of a camera.

And they shouldn't have to.

A little planning and efficient direction can help us create beautiful photographs while leaving plenty of time to enjoy the celebration.

Couple Portraits Around the Lilydale Property

One of the things I love about Lilydale is that we can create variety without leaving the venue.

The countryside, open skies, building, and surrounding landscape offer different backgrounds throughout the day.

And depending on the season, those locations can look completely different.

I love creating portraits that feel natural.

Not every photograph needs to be perfectly posed.

Sometimes I'll give a little direction, help you find beautiful light, and then allow the moment to unfold.

A walk together.

A quiet conversation.

A little laughter.

Or simply enjoying a few minutes away from the excitement of the reception.

Those moments often create some of my favorite photographs.

I've also enjoyed opportunities to incorporate nature and nearby farm animals into wedding portraits around Lilydale.

It's something a little different, and it can add personality to a wedding gallery when the opportunity is appropriate and access is permitted.

Lilydale Sunset Wedding Photos: Don't Skip This Opportunity

If you're planning a wedding at Lilydale, there's one thing I strongly encourage you to make room for.

Sunset photographs.

I've photographed some absolutely incredible sunsets at this venue.

The open countryside provides beautiful opportunities for evening light, particularly in areas with unobstructed views toward the surrounding farmland.

And when everything comes together, the results can be amazing.

But here's something couples don't always realize.

You don't need an hour of sunset portraits.

Often, 10–15 minutes is enough.

We'll step outside, find the best available light, and create a few photographs that look completely different from the ones we captured earlier in the day.

The evening light can create a softer atmosphere, and couples are often more relaxed after the ceremony and formal portraits are finished.

It's also a wonderful opportunity to spend a few quiet minutes together.

Of course, not every wedding has a colorful sunset.

Cloud cover, storms, and seasonal conditions can change the lighting.

But that's why I like building flexibility into the wedding timeline.

If we have a beautiful sunset, we'll take advantage of it.

And if we don't, we'll create something beautiful with the conditions we're given.

Summer Wedding Photos at Lilydale

Summer weddings at Lilydale offer longer daylight hours and opportunities to enjoy the outdoor spaces throughout the celebration.

I've photographed summer weddings here and appreciate how much flexibility the season can provide.

Outdoor ceremonies, wedding party portraits, and evening photographs can all be incorporated into the timeline.

One thing I pay particular attention to during summer weddings is the direction and quality of sunlight.

Bright midday sun can create strong shadows, so selecting the right location for portraits becomes important.

Sometimes moving a short distance into softer light can make a tremendous difference.

And with later summer sunsets, we may have the opportunity to create beautiful evening portraits after dinner.

For couples planning a summer wedding at Lilydale, I recommend considering the ceremony time, guest comfort, and sunset when building the schedule.

Fall Wedding Photos at Lilydale

There's a reason fall weddings are so popular throughout the Chippewa Valley.

The changing colors, cooler temperatures, and seasonal atmosphere can create some beautiful photography opportunities.

I've photographed fall weddings at Lilydale and love how the countryside setting changes throughout the season.

Depending on the weather and timing, the surrounding landscape can provide warm seasonal colors and beautiful natural backdrops.

But there's one important consideration.

Daylight disappears much earlier in the fall.

A wedding ceremony scheduled for late afternoon may leave limited time for outdoor portraits afterward.

That's why I encourage couples to think about their photography timeline before finalizing the ceremony time.

A first look may be helpful for some couples.

Others may prefer to keep things traditional and adjust the schedule.

Neither approach is wrong.

It's about deciding what matters most and creating a timeline that supports those priorities.

Winter Wedding Photos at Lilydale

Winter weddings have a completely different atmosphere.

And after photographing winter weddings at Lilydale, I appreciate how much flexibility the venue offers.

The indoor ceremony options, getting-ready spaces, and reception hall allow couples to celebrate without depending entirely on outdoor weather.

Winter photography does require a little more planning.

The daylight hours are shorter.

Temperatures can be cold.

And outdoor portraits may need to happen quickly.

But those challenges don't mean winter wedding photographs have to be limited.

The bridal suite provides beautiful natural light.

Indoor spaces offer additional portrait opportunities.

And when the weather cooperates, we can step outside for photographs incorporating the winter landscape.

If we're lucky enough to have snow, it can create a beautiful backdrop.

My biggest recommendation for winter weddings is to plan important outdoor photographs earlier in the day and keep the schedule flexible.

Reception Photography: The Moments You Didn't Plan

Some of my favorite wedding photographs happen after the ceremony.

The nerves begin to settle.

Guests are enjoying themselves.

And the celebration really gets started.

Lilydale's main hall and hardwood dance floor create a wonderful atmosphere for reception photography.

I love documenting the details couples spend months planning.

The flowers.

Table settings.

Decorations.

Wedding cake.

And all those personal touches that make the celebration unique.

But I also love the moments nobody can plan.

A parent reacting during a speech.

Friends laughing together.

A grandparent on the dance floor.

The wedding party completely letting loose.

Those are the photographs that bring back memories.

And Lilydale is certainly a venue where guests have room to get those dancing shoes warmed up.

Nighttime Wedding Photos at Lilydale

Just because the sun has gone down doesn't mean we're finished creating photographs.

I've photographed nighttime scenes at Lilydale, and I love the opportunity to create something different after dark.

Depending on the weather, available lighting, and wedding schedule, we may be able to step outside for a few evening portraits.

I also use off-camera lighting when appropriate, which allows us to create photographs even after the natural light has disappeared.

These portraits can add a completely different look to a wedding gallery.

They're not necessary for every couple.

But if you love dramatic evening photographs, it's worth discussing when planning your wedding coverage.

Why Experience at Lilydale Makes a Difference

Every wedding venue has its own characteristics.

The lighting changes throughout the day.

Different ceremony locations create different photography challenges.

Weather can affect the available portrait locations.

And the seasons can completely change how the property looks.

Having photographed multiple weddings at Lilydale, I've had the opportunity to experience the venue during summer, fall, and winter.

That familiarity helps me make thoughtful recommendations about portrait locations, ceremony lighting, getting-ready photographs, and sunset timing.

It also allows me to work efficiently.

I don't want couples spending their entire wedding day being photographed.

I want them enjoying the celebration while knowing we're documenting the important moments.

And another thing I genuinely appreciate about Lilydale is the team.

Elizabeth DeCook, the owner, is absolutely wonderful to work with.

Her team is organized, attentive, and incredibly in sync with one another.

When the venue staff and wedding vendors communicate well, it creates a smoother experience for everyone.

And that's something I've consistently appreciated while working at Lilydale.
